It just blows me away that in-game trailers have reached this level of cinema. I remember when the intermissions on Pac-Man were a big deal.

Vintage Trouble
I heard about this band through Alex Kemp, the creative director at Hum Music. They're big in the UK right now. Haven't broken in the the US yet. You can buy their tunes if you flip iTunes to the UK setting. And have a way to pay in pounds. Until then, YouTube works just fine...

Mary Blair
I had never heard of Mary Blair before she was honored with today's Google doodle:
She was a Disney artist who created concept art for some of my favorite early Disney films, as well as character design for It's a Small World.

Newton Thomas Sigel, DP
I recently watched Robert Redford's movie The Conspirator, and was struck by the cinematography. So I looked up the director of photography on imdb.com and was amazed that I had never paid attention to him.
Newton Thoms Sigel has been the DP on most (if not all) of Bryan Singer's films, including the first two X-Men movies, the Superman reboot, Valkyrie, and a movie I consider one of the best directed, shot, and edited films I've ever seen, The Usual Suspects.
Sigel's latest movie, Jack the Giant Killer is in post-production. Directed by Bryan Singer and staring Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Ian McShane (not to mention Warwick Davis), seems like it's one to look forward to.

Video Tour of the Saatchi Gallery
I came across Charles Saatchi's book in the gift shop of the Getty, and really enjoyed it. Here's a video tour of the Saatchi Gallery Duke of York's HQ.

The Kennedys
Watched this mini-series on Netflix, and really enjoyed it. All four leading characters were very convincing. JFK comes across as seriously flawed and Bobby seems like the real deal.

Bernhard Villemot
I've just recently discovered the work of Bernhard Villemot, a French graphic artist, who lived from 1911-1989. I need to get one of these prints for my home.
When was the last time an art director was so great, it was an asset to have his signature on the advertising?

Safety First
These were done by W+K NY, and are at least 10 years old. But I always liked the animation. And it's a good message for the kids.

Michael Imperioli for 1800 Tequila
I don't drink alcohol, and I've still never seen an episode of the Sopranos (I know, I know). But I love these commercials with Michael Imperioli for 1800 Tequila.

Andreas Gursky
The first Gursky I ever saw was 99 Cents in the MoMA. Kind of like Palla, but without the manipulation. Agoraphobes beware.
Lordy Rodriguez
I first learned of Lordy Rodriguez years ago through my art director partner, Corey Ciszek. He creates these mash-up maps that aren't really of anywhere. The link to Lordy at the Austin Museum of Art is here.

Conductor: www.mta.me from Alexander Chen on Vimeo.
At www.mta.me, Conductor turns the New York subway system into an interactive string instrument. Using the MTA’s actual subway schedule, the piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop. The visuals are based on Massimo Vignelli’s 1972 diagram.

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers
I've always been a fan of Steve Martin. He's a stand-up comedian, actor, playwrite, musician, and author. His latest album Rare Bird Alert is fantastic. I love Paul McCartney's appearance on "Best Love," and "Women Like to Slow Dance" is hilarious.

American Eagle display in Times Square
I'm working on a project that will appear on this outdoor display in Times Square. This ad for Mary Poppins is one of the best examples I've found.

A company named eCoupled has introduced wireless power so flexible, it can be printed right on the packaging.
Not sure how I feel about this yet. Still processing.

Locals and Tourists by Eric Fischer
In Eric Fischer's geotagged cities, blue points indicate photographs taken by locals, and red points are taken by tourists. Here are four of my favorite cities: Venice, New York, Chicago, and Budapest.
And here's my old home in Geneva, Switzerland. Not sure why this hasn't been tagged red, yellow or blue. Interesting that you can see Nyon at the top, and I'm guessing that's Yvoire on the other side of the lake.
